Councilman Pape On Property Tax Reform

At the end of tonight’s council meeting Tim Pape let everyone know what he thought of the state legislature’s property tax reform effort. I agree with much of what Pape says - especially when he says the Democrats never put forth a serious counter-proposal. That was something I wrote about here at FWP a few weeks ago.

It’s amazing each government body seems to pit one another against working with each other in an Election year. (Status quo City, County, State or Federal.)
I think Pape is pointing his finger back at the State. It’s not easy pleasing all the people all of the time. Pape should be happy Indiana State Government is putting reform on property taxes.
A consumption sales tax where everybody shares in the total cost for welfare is prudent and a fair way for everyone to share their individual tax across the board. Should I apoligize for owning a home? Should I apoligize for making good choices?
The Indiana Sales tax is a Consumption flat tax. Anyone that needs the basics like welfare, housing , medicine, education it’s here for you.
ASK… And you shall receive any of the above in this City.
What I find arrogant, is Fort Wayne’s continued spending on irresposible private tax-payed funded expentures. The public tax payers should be allowed to voice, and have more input on major City/County expentures at a ballot referundum.
Mr. Pape in your own words, “you befuddle me.”
What is your long term “A” game to the City of Fort Wayne, local Government, and working within the State of Indiana?
