Indiana Election Commission Letter to Local GOP

Posted by Jeff Pruitt - 4/20/08 @ 9:52 pm - Filed Under Local Politics

Here is the letter from the Indiana Election Commission, referenced in the JG story about the GOP finances, that led to Steve Shine ultimately changing the way the party reports their debts. I will say that my layman’s reading of this opinion leads me to believe that all debts, including run-of-the-mill bills, must be reported.

Apologies for the resolution but it was faxed to me and not sent electronically - I suggest downloading it for better viewing…

    To clarify something-

This letter is NOT from the Election Commission.

It is from the Republican attorney who represents the GOP on the Election Commission. None of the commission members (GOP or DEM) have commented and neither has the Dem attorney.

Not but this letter does reiterate common sense…

The language in the Campaign Finance Manual is relatively clear; at least it is clear in comparison to other entries in the Campaing Finance Manual.
