Maplecrest Extension Discontent Spreads to City Council

Tonight councilman Tom Smith spoke out against the wasteful $55 million Maplecrest extension project. He also managed to get an ordinance supporting some of the infrastructure improvements for the project held despite its prior approval. And he wasn’t the only one - councilmembers Goldner, Didier and Pape all expressed some reservations about the project. I have to question the County Commissioners’ decision to move forward with the project when the city councilman who’s district the project will be in doesn’t even support it…

We have this beautiful River flowing along Lake Ave. As we drive down Lake Ave., we see the the Recreational Parks to the left and to the right the River. It’s beautiful.
Maybe, the new plan to bridge New Haven with Fort Wayne should be further out.
Just maybe New Haven & Fort Wayne could develop this area of the river for enjoyment for all people.
I think City/Council can build a road off 469 to get us to New Haven from Fort Wayne.
I’d like to see this paticular area preserved for residential/river park /tourism development.
