Jim Schellinger 559,475 - 50 percent

Lake county put her over the top. Congrats to JLT! I wonder how long the party stuck around the Grand Wayne Center before getting the boot. If any readers were present at JLT’s party then let us know how it went…

UPDATE 5/7 - It’s official, Schellinger has conceded. From the press release:

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jim Schellinger called his primary opponent, Jill Long Thompson, at 4:15 p.m. to offer his congratulations and concede the gubernatorial primary race.

I went home about 11:45. There were a bunch of folks at the party shortly after 11 when Jill came down and talked with us. She said it was looking like after 1 a.m. before they’d have results from Lake County and at that point I decided to turn into a pumpkin and head home.

I wonder if Jim will go down gracefully or ask for a recount since the margin in so small for more than 1 million votes. (Great turnout for Indiana)

Well they just issued a press release saying the race is still too close to call so we’ll see…

I’m glad Schellinger didn’t try to drag this out longer then necessary.

Thanks Karen. Did the GWC stay open until the final numbers from Lake County came in?
