Phil Marx, of the blog My HUD House, has been featured in the most recent edition of Fort Wayne Reader:

Inner city blues
Blogger Phil Marx of My H.U.D. House chronicles his day-to-day struggles with drug dealers and his frustrations with the F.W.P.D.

“Late one October night in 2006, a Molotov cocktail exploded on the back porch of Phil Marx’s house. Another burst in the back yard, while a third smoldered in the front.

Marx doesn’t live in Baghdad or Mogadishu or Kabul. He lives in Fort Wayne, in a house on East Suttenfield just a few blocks from the headquarters of the Fort Wayne Police Department. For almost 13 years, Marx has been waging a war with the drug dealers in his neighborhood who use his corner — and sometimes his front yard — as a place to do business”

What is this blog blackout for the Felts DUI? If you want to talk about the good ole’ boy network in town look at the “criminal” justice system–particularly Felts’ role as criminal and civil advocate for AADP.

What a well-written piece. While the rest of the traditional media buries their head and parrots the pro-establishment talking points, the Fort Wayne Reader is actually covering a story that deserves real investigation and answers…

Agreed. I’ve spoken w/ Phil at length several times, and I can truthfully say that he and I are in the SAME boat…we’re just across the aisle at different oars.
Be nice if the MSM would take this, run with it, and pursue some REAL answers as to the WHYS about our part of Ft. wayne.
Bet we’d find a lot that needs to be said, as well as a lot of dirt swept under a LOT of “carpets”.

    Great story!

What a sorry state of affairs. It sure appears the city administration has given up on parts of Fort Wayne. We are going to have this great big downtown ball park to advertise what a fine, safe city we have. There will be police presence there, I’ll bet.

But will there be any help for the good people that live close enough to hear the “play by play” but are afraid to go out of their homes at night for fear of being shot, beaten or burned out!

Shame on an administration that will not demand protection for the people who pay them. And, shame on the police officers that sit by and watch! No one should live in fear!

As my friend Keith Cumtwa often says, “Even Fort Wayne has heroes.” Mr. Marx is one of them.

sober as a (hic) judge, your honor.
and whatever happened to the drug house ordinance?
    google “video vigilante”
i tried to post to marx’s blog, but im blocked- about how he should take a page from the tom ostrognai/drug wars playbook- and either video tape the nightly procession, and post it to youtube- or et up a few hidden web cameras, and set up a live internet feed- or again- post to youtube.
this will get some attention- after we all e-mail these youtube posts to the local news media, and the authorities.
    my 2 cents.
sober as a judge- hang ‘em high! equal justice under the law- make ‘em drink “rat poison”- antabuse!

I can’t imagine why he would block you from posting.

    David C Roach,

I have never blocked anyone from commenting on my blog. There must be a problem with your computer. If you have something to say and can’t get it through, send it to my e-mail (marxpd01@ipfw.edu) and I will post it verbatim.

My main focus is the drug dealing activities here, but FWPD’s poor attendance to this situation is also a big part of the problem. I am interested in many issues related to police as a result of this, including take home cars and other such issues.

I’ve see some post before on your blog (as well as others) that I thought were relevant to my story. I don’t remember who started it, but a while back you and the Libertarians both did posts about allowing advertisements on police vehicles as a means for generating revenue. I thought about doing a post linking to other blog posts that I feel are relevant to my own blog, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

As I said, I have never intentionally blocked anyone from reading or commenting on my blog before. I have only deleted two comments (besides my own). One was a gratuitous advertisement with absolutely no intellectual value, and the other was a libelous statement against a public official which was posted anonymously.

Hell, if you want, write your own post about what you think of my blog (good or bad), then let me know and I’ll link to it on my blog.
