FWR Covers “The Kelty Faithful”

Michael Summers at the Fort Wayne Reader hit another homerun with his recent article on Matt Kelty’s supporters. Summers goes after the personal angle and gets some of the Kelty insiders to speak openly about their disdain for Kelty’s plight and why they feel he’s being railroaded.

I’m not going to provide editorial comment - I’ll leave that to others. But no matter what side of the Kelty debate you come down on you’ll enjoy the article. The Fort Wayne Reader is providing the best feature material in town right now. Congrats to Mr Summers for his hard work and dedication…

the Allen County Election Board, found no wrongdoing. Don’t people find it strange that the one dissenter was Andy Downs, who the very next day resigned from the board of common cause, and then the very next day a four sentence e-mail was sent to the prosecutor and then right after that a special prosecutor? Doesn’t anybody find that strange? Odd?”

Now look. Who in their right mind thinks for a moment the three Republicain members of the election board would find anything wrong with “their boy” Matt.

The facts will show that Kelty knew exactly what he was doing when he lied about his loans. Or, he had the dumbest advisors that ever walked the earth. It wasn’t Andy Downs that lied to the folks. The special prosecutor had to have probable cause to get this into a trial. It’s a shame that Kelty’s friends have to be taken in this way.

Let the legal system have a shot at putting this to rest.

I would surmise, who the heck would want to run for any political office with the on-going perpectual night-mares located in anytown U.S.A.

My apologizies, we are all in this Democracy together, are we not.

By the way, pretty soon we will have fewer electable people running for local, state, and national offices with this on-going attitude.

There are a lot of gems in this article but my two favorite are:

    1. When Mr. Popp explains why Kelty did not disclose the lender by saying “some people just do not want people to know who they are supporting” Yes, Mr. Popp thats why they have campaign finance laws!!!

    2. Mr. Ferro’s quote “I think he’s been wrongly accused…. I mean, look, Jim Bopp, the most renowned attorney in the country on election law, comes here, tells everybody that according to the way the law is written in Indiana, he’s (Kelty) done absolutely nothing wrong” Mr. Ferro is a business man but apparently has no frickin idea how the legal system works. Mr Ferro, Jim Bopp was hired by Kelty to be his advocate. Mr. Bopp’s job was to argue with all his might on Kelty’s behalf! His job was not to cast doubt on the situation. If your logic was accurate then every criminal in america should be acquitted as soon as their defense lawyer finishes their opening statement

    Ms. Kelly:

“By the way, pretty soon we will have fewer electable people running for local, state, and national offices with this on-going attitude.”

Hopefully those “electable” folks will take the time to study the laws that govern elections.

What more could you wish for? Shouldn’t any accused get his/her day in court? Works for me!

    Mr. Green Jeans…..

“If your logic was accurate then every criminal in america should be acquitted as soon as their defense lawyer finishes their opening statement”

That is a BRILLIANT way to putting it!

    Bravo!

His campaign started fresh and very astute
But then he ate a cake baked by Mrs. Hoot
    His campaign finance report
Came up just a little short
I hope he doesn’t have to wear an orange jumpsuit.
