Indiana Delegates Go Overwhelmingly To Obama (Update)
Posted by Jeff Pruitt - 8/27/08 @ 6:45 pm - Filed Under 2008 National Elections, Featured
Although Hillary Clinton won the popular vote the vast majority of Indiana’s national delegates just went to Barack Obama during the floor roll call. The final tally was 75 to Obama and only 6 for Clinton with 4 absent.
As an aside - how the hell do you go to the national convention, especially this one, and be absent for the roll call?
H/T: Karen Goldner
Update: Hillary Clinton just made a motion that the rules be suspended and Barack Obama be made the nominee by acclamation. Obama is now officially the nominee…

Good Coverage….
I thought I saw Karen Goldner waving a flag last
night during the coverage on one of the National news outlets. Congradulations!
Interesting how the set-stage tonight will be a back drop of the Pantheon Temple for President nominee Obama. It is ironic that the Pantheon building has existed throughout many wars while being dedicated to all Gods; one can readily perceive this to be a temple for our one God.
I was hoping for a traditional American Flag.

Jeff - Can you imagine the party going on behind the scenes? The prosecution rests, your honor!

Bobette - It’s a COLUMN. Like they have in DC. That’s the intended reference. Watch out for those GOP “talking points”. Tune in tomorrow and that will all become clear.
Surely, we will see our Great American Flag, representing all our Glory and the United States Of America.
Columns…represent what..?

Four absent from vote? I bet it wasn’t Sofia Mirwaldt, Karen Goldner or Graham Richard. Amazing.
Although I don’t know the story of 3 of the delegates, one of our 3rd district delegates, Steve Haines, was diagnosed with heart problems the week before the convention and was told by his doctor not to travel. For reasons I don’t understand, we didn’t have an alternate position assigned to our Congressional District so we just lost that slot.
But our best wishes remain with Steve.
Maybe someone can explain to me the following. Several states cast their votes but the total cast did not come close to the total they had been given. I wish I would have written down the states but being a old fart it slipped my simple mind. I am not talking a couple votes that where maybe pledged to some other person.

Damn…. it’s good to not be alone!!!
Bobette - Just for you:

JQ: The difference are delegates who are not voting. I guess someone could abstain, but it is equally likely that there is a delegate absent due to some sort of personal/health emergency that has arisen. I was writing them all down as they were read and none of the delegations were more than a few off. However, a couple of times I had to wait until after the chair repeated the vote because of all of the noise on the floor.
Bobette - I notice, as expected, there is a flag in the background for tonight’s Obama speech
