Republican senate primary in Alaska

Unfortunately for Alaska, Ted Stevens, the forty year incumbent Republican Senator from Alaska won his primary this year.
I have never liked Ted Stevens because of his stance on earmarks and pork barrel spending. In my mind Ted Stevens is likely one of the two worst Senators in the country (Ted Kennedy has always been number one in my book) and Ted Stevens has somehow served for forty years.
He was recently indicted on several Federal charges and he has been accused of corruption in the past on multiple occasssions.
I am very disappointed that Republican primary voters chose Ted Stevens to be the Republican nominee for the Senate from Alaska this year.
I certainly hope that he is defeated in November.
I support a majority of Republican candidates; however, I will never support Republicans who I feel are corrupt.

Most all of our Presidents have come from the Congress, Senate or as a Governor at some point in their careers.
With that in mind,
…is it the NBA or NFL that has a corrupt record?
36 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly/indirectly bankrupted 2 businesses
3 have served time in jail for assault
71 have not served time but are repeat offenders
71 get not receive a personal credit card due to bad debt
1 4 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shop-lifting
21 are defendants in lawsuits
84 have been arrested for drunk driving
Can you guess which organization this is?
Give Up yet?
Neither, it’s the 435 members of the United States Congress.
This is the same elected group that sets new laws designed to keep the rest of us in line.
And…….. that doesn’t count the ones that just didn’t get caught.
Folks that bemoan the lack of “good, qualified candidates” should simply look to the crop we have now. From the local lies (”I will only serve two terms in Congress”) to the White House (”I did not have sex with that woman” and “Sadam has weapons of mass distruction”). What honest, upstanding person would throw themselves into that rats nest? At least the NFL and NBA people show up for practice and sweat once in a while! When was the last time you saw sweaty armpits on a $700 suit?
It’s disappointing that the people of Alaska don’t agree that they deserve better than to be represented by a corrupt politician.
Bobett,
You got that info out of a spam email:

Ted Stevens is falling behind his opponent in the polls. He’ll probably lose, but perhaps it’s too much to hope that the federal charges will discourage earmarks.
