Will Bodenhafer Just Resign Already

I find it incredibly audacious that, as the president of the plan commission, Charles Bodenhafer did not resign his position before bringing the contentious Canyon Cliffs development before the board. After all, he helped draft the ordinance that he then later tried to exploit to fast track the development.
One has to wonder why an unpaid volunteer wouldn’t just step down in order to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest. But now he’s just gone too far - suing his fellow commission members? He can’t be serious. There is no way in hell any company would allow the president of its board of directors to sue fellow members and remain on the board.
Bodenhafer should resign from the plan commission immediately - it’s the ethical and professional thing to do. Of course the developer community doesn’t want that to happen as he’s far more valuable to them on the board than off…

But is he part of the lawsuit?
I know he owns the land…but is he part of the development as well?
I do agree, even as owner of the land, it would be better at this point to resign.
Kevin,
From WANE:
I’m not sure if he’s technically part of Oakmont or Coldwater Estates but it’s the exacty same people so either way we’re talking semantics…
Charles Bodenhafter should not, I say, not resign. This would be a sure sign of weakness at such a crucial juncture in the process. He should stand proud and defiant to the will of the people.
Canyon Cliffs will succeed regardless of a few people whining and complaining about it. Partnerships have been forged and huge financial gain is at stake. A significant amount of money has already been spent on blueprints and plans for this premier housing complex, and powerful attorneys are plotting a case against the plan commission members who dared to defy and try and stop it from being built.
The “houses” in Canyon Cliffs will not merely be small, square boxes. Do not underestimate how luxurious these homes will be. Upgrades will abound. Granite, slate, marble, copper, stainless steel, etc. are all words which will be tossed around and used loosely when constructing these modern wonders of planned communities. These will be magnificent, stately mansions encompassing thousands of square feet of living space, which will more than likely house some of the richest and most powerful people in the area. Sorry Sycamore Hills - there will soon be a new sheriff in town.
Although the housing addition will be outside of city limits, residents will not pay and should not pay city taxes. Regardless of its location, the city should christen Canyon Cliffs by extending public sewer pipes to ensure its success and cleanliness.
Canyon Cliffs will be a shining example for our area to be proud of. It will represent all that is good in people. When people hear the name Canyon Cliffs they will immediately feel the presence of a supreme, almost angelic power come all over their body. Hairs will stand on end and most but not all, peoples’ fingers will tingle and feel slightly prickly. I predict, Canyon Cliffs will be synonymous and practically the equivalent of an orgasmic, out-of-body experience.
Fort Wayne Millionare,
You rock. Orgasmic/$$$ reactions shouldn’t be confined to Canyon Cliffs issues. Who woulda figured that the Republican Party would find orgasmic, non-competitive political orgies so seductive? lmao
oh yea there is that Mike S, non-regulation/”populist” ideology that is seductive…unless it comes to dealing with reality/facts. This issue puts his “libertarian” values suspect. He can squack about this or that, but “libertarian” ideology means he should be sitting on his hands…unless he has other interests.
Like I just said on Charlotte’s blog, I think it would be really funny if someone filed a similar lawsuit against the Commission members who voted in support of the development.
