FWCS Candidate Steve Corona Files Illegal Campaign Finance Report

Posted by Jeff Pruitt - 10/23/08 @ 4:14 pm - Filed Under 2008 Local Elections

After reviewing the various campaign finance reports I believe current board member Steve Corona’s filing was illegal as he failed to itemize $2771.00 in expenditures. Under IC 3-9-5-14 all committees are required to itemize expenditures exceeding $100:

(8) The full name, mailing address, occupation, and principal place of business, if any, of each person other than a committee to whom an expenditure was made by the committee or on behalf of the committee within the year in an aggregate amount that:
(A) exceeds one hundred dollars ($100), in the case of a candidate’s committee, legislative caucus committee, or political action committee;

There is always the possibility that all of his committee’s expenditures were under $100 but I would consider that highly unlikely. What’s more likely is that he forgot to file the itemized expenditures or was hoping nobody would notice.

Our campaign finance laws demand transparency because citizens have a right to know where a political candidate’s money is coming from and how they are spending it. I have filed a formal complaint with the Allen County Election Board (shown below) and I hope the matter can be resolved before the election.

Allen County Election Board,
The Citizens for Corona campaign finance report is missing the expenditures itemization section (i.e. Schedule B). However the CFA-4 shows expenditures of $2771 in row 17a which is the line item for itemized expenditures.

I would like to file a formal complaint against the Citizens for Corona committee and ask the Allen County Election Board to investigate the matter.

Thank You

Jeff Pruitt

    Jeff,

I think it is clear that “Citizens for Corona” violated the campaign finance laws.

It will be interesting to see what the Allen County Election Board does.

No wonder FWCS is in such bad shape.

FWCS is in bad shape for more than one reason. Spendy Robinson is a large part of the problem as well.

Where is the Special Prosecutor for the Corona matter?

It is interesting to see who the major contributors are to Citizens for Corona !! The 3 suppliers of insurance to the school system and the architect who practically lives off of the School System account for 90% of the funds reported. Talk about conflicts of interest and a BOUGHT school board-this is shameful !! Where are the analyses of this by the Local Paper?

Maybe this should be brought up at the next school board meeting. From what I understand (the FWCS website is down), the next meeting is Monday night. Surely there will be local media attending.

    Any updates on this?

And really? He’s supported by all of these interests groups that continue to divert good money away from the teaching of students?

    This is not good.
