Souder Now In Serious Trouble

Democratic 3rd District Congressional nominee Mike Montagano was upgraded from the DCCC’s emerging races list onto their Red to Blue List. This is a big deal. During the 2006 cycle, the DCCC Red to Blue campaign raised over $22 million and candidates on the list received an average of over $400k. Only the top-tier races make this list - the ones the party thinks are the most winnable.
This will likely give Montagano the funding needed to counter the Souder smear campaign over the next month…

If the Democrats had a real candidate, they’d actually have a chance at winning this thing.
Define real. You mean someone that has been in the system for years like Souder? Or someone old and “experienced”? Because we know that “experience” = brilliance in government, right?
Bully for Montagano for jumping into a race against an incumbent with wide name recognition and long history of “experience”. I’m sure Souder never thought Montagano would even show up as a blip on the screen.
I hope the man (Souder) is defeated and defeated in a huge way in November. A slice of humble pie is in order.
Maybe he can go back to IPFW again and be student body president. I don’t think that there are term limits in the IPSGA constitution - at least as I left it - we never imposed them. But gosh, let me check with Kody….
There aren’t any
Ms. Kelty:
Sometimes the arrogrance can come back to bite.
While Mr. Souder has seemingly charmed some of the “base”, he has flaunted his “brillance” way, way to many times for a number of Republicians.
Of course, maybe George Bush will call him to the White House in a show of support! That will insure his “real candidate” status.
I don’t know that Montagano is the guy for the job but he’s got to be better than Souder.
We should have worked harder on Hayhurst, that was a shame.
John:
Has my mother entered the room? Or maybe an aunt of mine? I missed out on any Ms. Kelty in the room. But I’ll leave that at as honest mistake.
But onto the real question:
A real candidate would be one who gets out there and defines his positions, comes up with real plans for how he is going to make an impact. Tom Hayhurst was a real candidate. Montagano simply chants positions that any old joe could say was a good idea. The only thing about him that I’m certain of is that he’s for winning and against losing. Unless I’ve missed his plan and the fact that I worked 2 offices down from his campaign headquarters and thought it was a vacant building all summer, I’d say Montagano doesn’t quite cut the “real” definition.
I’m not a fan of Souder, but when the other candidate won’t lay out the cards to give himself a chance or give us a plan, I’ll go for Souder.
Mr. Kelty:
My aging eyes and fat fingers somtimes play nasty tricks on me. Please accept my humble apology!
This is a case where, I’m sorry to have to say this, but I’d sooner have a warm slab of bacon than more of Mark Souder!
