Back Slapping

Earlier tonight I saw Allen County Republican Chairman Steve Shine on television singing his own praises because the local Republican party had done their part in helping John McCain to victory (whoops).
But let’s look at the numbers shall we. Allen County went from +27 Bush to +4 McCain. I wouldn’t be patting myself on the back too hard after a performance like that. However, I will give credit where it’s due; the Republicans did win all the county-wide seats…

What is amazing is that Obama won in Indiana and Souder crushed Montagano (not to pat myself on the back, but I had predicted that Souder would win by 55%). Therefore, there must have been a lot of people who voted for Obama and Souder. Shouldn’t the voting machines have kicked all those ballots out as computer error? More frightening is the realization that we will never, ever, ever, get rid of Mark Souder.
I’m amazed that anyone cares about Steve Shine anymore. He has pretty much lead the local Republican party down the tubes the past few years. I’m also surprised Mark Souder won by so much. I voted Montagano as a sacrifice to get Souder out of office.
Very happy to see Mitch Daniels win - I think Hoosiers understand now what he has done for this state.
Based on plain old anecdotal evidence, I am convinced that a majority of independents and at least 25% of Republicans literally cannot stand Souder. He is finger-nails-down-the-chalkboard to many.
However, he cannot be defeated in a GOP primary because only the rightest of the right vote in the primary so this is Souder’s sweet spot. Then, he gets into the General and it is no longer about SOUDER. Instead it is just R v. D and the Rs are ALWAYS going to win whether the Ds run Hayhurst, Montagano, Parra, Pape, Henry, Richard or anybody else. So it is literally the Souder Conundrum. The 3rd District apparently cant stand him but the 3rd District cant get rid of him.
And, worst of all, every election he becomes more and more convinced that his grating, obnoxious and horrible radio ads put him over the top and we have to listen to them again.
I wish his supporters would start urging him to run for Senator so atleast we only have to endure his ads once every six years!!
Souder for Senate!
GO Green Jeans, GO!! Once every six years, you promise?
Sorry, that’s MR Green Jeans….
I’m sure Evan Bayh appreciates the thought, MGJ.
I don’t think that there was very much Obama/Souder crossovers. Obama won Indiana got way higher vote percentages in Monroe County, Lake County, and Marion County.
