Wayne Township advisory board member Maria Parra has sent out a letter supporting Pat Moore for Allen County Democratic Party Chairwoman and asking others to vote for her in the upcoming party caucus.
I think Pat Moore would be an excellent choice. She is extremely involved with everything in the party and works diligently to get others involved as well. She is truly one of the nicest and most inclusive people I have ever met.
You can read Parra’s letter of support below:
Dear Precinct Committeepersons and Vice Committeepersons:
I hope that you and your families are doing well as we begin a challenging year that many of us face. On Saturday, March 7, 2009 @ 9:00 a.m. an election for Allen County Democratic Party Chair will be conducted and I am asking you to support Pat Moore for Party Chair.
I met Pat in 2003 when I started as a member of the Allen County Democratic Party and I think she is a wonderful human being and a hardworking lady. Beyond that, Pat lives, in her every step, what it means to be a Democrat.
I admire her tenacity and appreciate the numerous hours she has dedicated to the party and my campaigns throughout the years. I can’t count how many hours I have canvassed with her and her daughter Julie throughout the neighborhoods in Allen County since 2003 when it was not popular to be a Democrat. She went to every door and spoke on behalf of the Democratic Party and where it stood on such issues as Healthcare, Iraq War, Workers’ Rights, and Jobs.
Because of her outstanding organizational skills, a volunteer network started at the Party’s Headquarter so people would have a place to come and ask questions on candidates, issues, or just to commiserate with other Democrats. Pat’s excellent liaison skills have attracted such groups as Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Plan, the Peace Action Coalition, and AC4O (Allen County for Obama) to join forces and further common goals. There’s nothing like walking a picket line with Pat Moore and exercising our First Amendment rights or marching in a parade on behalf of the Allen County Democratic Party. I’ve had a lot of fun over the years and that same aura of P-R-I-D-E can continue with Pat Moore at the helm. You haven’t lived life as Democrat until you have walked a mile (or miles) with my friend Pat Moore!!!
Pat and I don’t agree on everything but she knows how to reach out and discuss differences in order to create UNITED front and harmony within our party. Pat has supported us in numerous causes and now it’s our turn to support her with our VOTES!
Vote for Pat Moore as our Democratic Party Chair in 2009 and watch our party GROW!!!
Saturday, March 7th 2009 – Doughnuts & Coffee @ 8:30, Officers Election @ 9:00 a.m.
Sincerely,
Maria M Parra

I’d be all for her if I were a Bush-hating, anti-war, union thug loving, anti nuclear power, pro-socialized health care card carrying ACLU peace-nik.
There’s nothing like walking a picket line with Pat Moore
Oh, sorry, I’m conservative. I say bring her on in, we need a radical over there. lol
Honest Abe,
I didn’t hate Bush, I’m not for war that benefits $$$$ Haliburton & Associates, I’m for keeping jobs here in America, I believe a national healthcare system will cost less and cover EVERYONE, I’m for protecting our civil liberties, and for PEACE obtained with an intelligent, articulate national leader (Obama) that can unite and inspire the free world against the war on terrorism.
I consider myself liberal on some issues and conservative on others such as spending. Pat Moore is not a radical unless you consider “radical” making government accountable for advancing the interest of our people and future generations.
Oh dang Maria, read the post. It wasn’t about you.
Pat IS a radical left-wing liberal. We Republicans hope she wins. With Knuth being ousted as spokesperson, we welcome another nutroot in there. :)
Honest Abe:
Point well taken Honest Abe, I guess I wanted to convey that you don’t have to be a radical left wing to be for Pat Moore. Thank you for keeping me grounded!
You said it Abe.
Those Bush-hatin, peace-loving, tree-huggin, universal healthcare bringing, bleedin heart, lefty liberals are scary folk indeed.
They don’t think and act like you and me.
Now that I think of it, didn’t some radical freak just shoot up a church in Knoxville, Tennessee not too long ago ??
http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2008/jul/28/church-shooting-police-find-manifesto-suspects-car/
Sorry, my bad, it was a radical RIGHT-WING freak who decided to storm the church on a Sunday morning and murder innocent civilians in what he called “a Symbolic Killing”.
The murderer who did this, Jim David Adkisson, even took the time to go to great lengths to describe the reason(s) why he felt compelled to commit this act of terror.
And if you want to take a glimpse inside his mind….
here are just a few quotes taken from Mr. Adkisson’s “manifesto” in which he describes his demented obsession with ridding the country of liberals:
“I guess you’re wondering why I did this. Well let me explain in detail.”
“The environmental Nuts have to be stopped.”
“I hate the damn left-wing Liberals.”
“Who I wanted to kill was every Democrat in the Senate + House, the 100 people in Bernard Goldberg’s book. I’d like to kill everyone in the Mainstream Media.”
“So I thought I’d do something good for this Country. Kill Democrats ’till the cops kill me.”
“Liberals are a pest like termites. Millions of them. Each little bite contributes to the downfall of this great nation. The only way we can rid ourselves of this evil is kill them in the streets. Kill them where they gather.”
“I’d like to encourage other like minded people to do what I’ve done. If life ain’t worth living anymore don’t just kill yourself. do [sic] something for your Country before you go. Go Kill Liberals.”
Pierce Patchett, what’s your point, really? Mentally ill people come from all walks of life, and it’s pretty easy to find morons on both ends of the political and societal spectrum.
You looking to take Knuths’s place on the “snarkometer”?
Tim….YOU calling me Snarky? Priceless!
Tim, since the 1920, many progressives have characterized dissenting conservative viewpoints as the result of mental aberration or mental illness.
It’s an integral part of progressivism’s materialist roots. The political philosophers who have argued that conservatism is a ‘mental illness’ start from an assumption that materialist humanism is self-evidently correct such that only a mentally ill person would disagree, and go on from there.
So Pierce’s point, while stupid, is consistent with a long and distinguished line of similarly insane progressive arguments about their own “undeniable” rightness.
Honest Abe wrote: “Pat IS a radical left-wing liberal. We Republicans hope she wins. With Knuth being ousted as spokesperson, we welcome another nutroot in there. :)”
Speaking for yourself, I hope? Some Republicans are far too interested in the success of the GOP to give a “hoot” (sorry, pun intended) about the leadership of the Allen Co. Dems.
And could you help me out with a definition of “nutroot?”
Re the definition of “nutroot.” Isn’t it sufficient that Knuth is described as one?
Paul,
Sure, I don’t represent any opinion other than my own. Having her lead the fray at the Dems would be great for the GOP. Put a radical in there and sooner than later their mouth with overload to our benefit.
As far as the Hoots go, they’re part of the lunatic fringe of Kelty/Jehl misfits. They’re a liability. Marvin Hoot actually had a conversation with a friend early last year and told him that “one powerful person” ran the entire city and county, and he should keep some of his opinions to himself or he could end up just like Sharon Lapp.
Now, put your adult beverage down Paul. Okay….
As for nutroot, it would include but not be limited to people believe in:
more government welfare
the elimination of God from everything
less corporate tax breaks
no expansion of drilling for crude oil
no nuclear power plants
a constitutional amendment to allow gay marriage
the right for illegal aliens to have a driver’s license
believe Obama is obligated to pay their mortgage
hang out on the court house green protesting the war
believe the gubment should pay for their healthcare
think the Employee Free Choice Act won’t screw people out of their rights
Al Gore and that global warming is real
that killing the unborn is a citizen’s right
I could go on.
Awww Keith. You should know that when you resort to calling the other guy names it is because you lost the argument.
Abe- Wow, I really don’t fit your description of nutroot.
I’m sorry Knuth. I should have used your winning argument - Get over it or, we won and you lost.
Hey Kev,
I have a question for you.
Now that you’re no longer ACDP spokes-snark, are they putting the muzzle on you at their blog? Should we expect you to have your very own blog soon like Tim Zank? I just found his today, it’s at:
http://timzanks.blogspot.com/
Afterall, you need *someplace* to beat up on the snarky Pat White.
Abe,
No, I will still be blogging.
It was just time for me to step back and let Mike keep moving forward.
That’s an interesting definition of “nutroot,” thanks. Are being a nutroot or a radical the same thing? If that’s true, there are many individuals who vote for Republican candidates fit the bill, as they also believe in some of the characteristics on the list.
And that brings me back to the point that I intended to articulate: Some Republican leaders understand that the challenges we face in Allen County will not improve because of any change in the Democrat’s leadership. What the GOP needs is for the “limited government, free enterprise, fiscal responsibility, pro-life, family values, and moral decency” fringe of the party to accept that some of our voters will on occasion identify with nutroot beliefs, and allow them a voice in the party anyway.
Hey, I just received a postcard announcing support for the ticket of:
Mike Bynum for Chair
Deb Morrone for Vice-Chair
Sandy Kennedy for Secretary
George Guido for Treasurer
The postcard announces the endorsement of this ticket by some notable folks including:
Mayor Tom Henry
County Councilwoman Maye Johnson
City Councilman Glynn Hines
City Councilman Tim Pape
Wayne Township Trustee Rick Stevenson
State Rep. Phil GiaQuinta
State Rep. Win Moses
More of the same.
YAWN…
Looks like the “good old boy” network is sticking together again…
Mike
And I endorse that ticket as well–I mean when I am not endorsing Steve Shine—I endorse that ticket. What was I talking about?
