More on Stutzman as Souder’s Potential Replacement

The more I look at the election results from 2010 the more I think Marlin Stutzman has to be the choice. I’ve extracted the 2010 Senate primary votes from the counties within the 3rd District and the results show that Stutzman finished dead even with Dan Coats in those counties. Is there anyone else in this district that could’ve accomplished that? Stutzman’s popularity in this district with Republican primary voters has to make him the favorite.
| County | Don Bates, Jr. | Richard Behney | Dan Coats | John N. Hostettler | Marlin A. Stutzman |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Total: | 1849 | 1582 | 38334 | 7350 | 38334 |
| Allen | 557 | 476 | 16922 | 2940 | 11583 |
| DeKalb | 109 | 73 | 2561 | 508 | 2926 |
| Elkhart | 562 | 394 | 8103 | 1597 | 7807 |
| Kosciusko | 206 | 339 | 3743 | 828 | 4720 |
| LaGrange | 62 | 44 | 654 | 166 | 2585 |
| Noble | 89 | 67 | 1762 | 357 | 4108 |
| Steuben | 139 | 93 | 2323 | 466 | 2726 |
| Whitley | 125 | 96 | 2266 | 488 | 1879 |
| % of Total | 2.1% | 1.8% | 43.8% | 8.4% | 43.8% |
And yes I know not all precincts in these counties are in the 3rd District but the vast majority are and thus the conclusion is still valid - Stutzman had an impressive showing against Coats in this District.

Contact your local precinct committeeman (list available at the clerk’s office) and county chairs - we need Marlin’s conservative leadership in DC.
Please take a minute to sign up at GoMarlin.com to be a volunteer, too!
We did well for him running for senate, now let’s get a principled conservative in this seat so we can beat Hayhurst!
I am not sure the analysis is sound. First they were two totally different races. Many simply did not vote for any 3rd district rep. I would look at the total votes from 3rd district for congress in the republican primary and compare that to the total cast votes from the counties of the 3rd district for senator.
Also, many of the Souder voters may vote for Troyer, anyone but Thomas. I know may who would have vote for Troyer, but voted for Souder, simple because they did not like Thomas and Souder was better than Thomas. It is who is the best of the worst, not the best for the job.
Bill,
Sometimes I wonder if you are commenting on what I wrote or if you make up your mind about what it says before reading it. The analysis was that Stutzman ran even with Coats - that’s it. How can that not be sound?
From that analysis I formed the opinion that nobody else in the 3rd district could’ve accomplished that and thus Stutzman would be the obvious choice for those that want to maximize their chance at winning.
That opinion is certainly up for debate but I have no idea how your anything you wrote relates to that. Feel free to enlighten me…
I am sorry Jeff,
Since the assault by the FWPD three years ago, I have been losing the ability to think clearly. The injuries they aggravated are serious. The medications the VA has placed me on slows my thinking, makes it hard to speak clearly, wipes out short term memory and causes drowsiness. If I stop taking the medications, I begin to recover, but then I stand the risk of increased problems they are meant to control.
I guess hind sight is don’t ask the state if they have consent and release from the performers to sell their images. If they don’t like it, they will assault you.
I guess after an explosion yielding greater than 1.8 million foot pounds of force, with only an “I” beam between me and the turbine casing, my ability to absorb more impact or abuse was limited.
After reading what your wrote and my comment, my comment certainly does not make sense.
