Phil Troyer drops out of 3rd District Congressional Caucus

Instead he is now running for the Indiana seat to be vacated by Matt Bell…
Troyer dropping out will change the caucus somewhat and I feel that his dropping out will help Stutzman in the early rounds.

I agree Mike. Troyer’s 8 votes will more likely than not go to Stutzman. It looks like all these guys are just chasing an office… any office…
Agree with Green Jeans.
In a perfect world, the way this would work is we would ask everyone who wanted to run for Congress to raise their hand. Those people would be IMMEDIATELY AND SUMMARILY disqualified. We would then draft some guy or gal who’s far too busy and important to run for Congress and force them to take their turn.
I agree with Green Jeans but couldn’t the same thing be said of all the front-runners - including Liz Brown? She ran for school board then turned around and ran for council and now she wants to run for congress. Is that necessarily a bad thing?
Name recognition trumps all in local elections so it’s not surprising that people bounce around trying to build it
Has everybody read Souder’s facebook missive at Howie Indiana? It is must reading and all I can say is are you kidding me?
1. First of all, why does he think anybody cares anymore about his thoughts on the caucus? How pompous can you be?
2. Isnt he still grounded from Facebook?
3. With 16 candidates including several good ones, is the caucus really going to elect the one that is one ripple away from Souder, his mistress and his mistress’ husband? Clean break caucus, clean break, please lets flush this mess down. Pick Thomas, Pick Brown, Pick Borror, Pick Elijah, Pick Somebody that is atleast a few levels removed from this sordid mess. The 3rd Distrcit deserves a fresh start.
Borror is too close to Souder as well. Pick Brown, hands down. Get rid of the riff raff.
Definitely Kelty-esque to be stalking around after a massive public blowout. He should just walk away for a while.
I don’t mind Brown per se but I don’t think her fiscally responsible credentials are quite as strong as purported. She was definitely thorough throughout the budget process - especially the nickel and dime stuff which did add up.
However, all the big-ticket items (most related to downtown) she supported - Harrison Square, Maplecrest Extension, the new
HenryCity Hall, Calhoun Street. Also, I’m not convinced she’s strong on 2nd Amendment issues so caucus goers might want to get her thoughts on that.
