Souder Facebook message concerning Stutzman

The press is reporting that former Congressman Mark Souder sent a lengthy email to The Noble County Republican Chair and the Noble County Prosecutor.
The Howey Political report has a lot more on the story.
Angry White Boy (Fort Wayne Blog) has his own spin on the story that is well worth your reading. The comments on this post at Angry White Boy are also well worth your time.
I have a lot to say about this; however, I am trying to secure a copy of the supposed email. I currently have two copies; however, there are some subtle differences between them; hence I am not sure which is accurate.
I have reached out to several sources and hope to get a copy to review and post in the next 24 hours or so.
If you have a copy of this email please send it to me. I feel that it should be posted in its entirety. Currently several news sources have the document and are just printing parts of it and then commenting on it. Just email it to me at sylvester@fortwaynepolitics.com.
It will be interesting to see how the usual “Souder apologists” try to spin this.
Former Congressman Souder needs to get entirely out of politics and stop trying to play “kingmaker.” He needs to focus on fixing his life and his marriage and stop trying to be involved in politics.
Pat Miller discussed this on WOWO today and was “spot on.”

I think point number 7 that Souder wrote paints a picture that Stutzman has MAJOR baggage:
“When Marlin decided to run for the US Senate, his friendship with Brad led Brad to begin flying him in a plane Brad partly owns. I warned Brad thru Tracy to make sure it was reported. Supposedly Marlin did, but it doesn’t look like an in-kind to me (Brad shows up as having given 500 dollars, that doesn’t cover it). Furthermore, the reason I stopped going in any private plane is that the rules force you to declare an incredible number (thousands) which is ridiculous. In other words, Marlin has a problem - Brad doesn’t, he just flew him. Since he flew to multiple Lincoln Days around the state, and it was very public, and Christy and possibly the kids did as well (more declarations not seen), it is unlikely to remain secret. I don’t know what to do - but Marlin (and I could have missed it) needs to clean it up after caucuses if he wins). Take a small hit rather than a Kelty one. Federal penalties aren’t severe.”
So basically, Stutzman has violated campaign finance laws- unless he can document that he paid for all that travel.
I am somewhat shocked at Souders attitude- “Federal Penalties aren’t severe”….so I guess that gives federal candidates no reason to not break the law.
Mike,
First of all, the missive can only be described as pathetic.
Souder has lived a life for the last 16 years where everybody cares what he says. Nobody cares anymore and this is his last ditch effort to be relevant in the 3rd district. It is really quite sad.
The underlying picture he paints in his “private” message represents the very worst in politics. You resign, and he runs for that, and he runs for this and you run for his open seat and your mistress’s husband runs for that open seat and your girlfriend’s husband flies around your “over ambitious” former staffer. The whole thing just makes me a little nauseus and it provides a micro look into national politics and makes your realize why we are constantly screwed at the macro level.
As I have said previously, lets atleast get a clean break from all of this stuff. I hope the caucus and can atleast pick somebody further away from souder than his girlfriend’s husband’s chum.
The Dems (See Knuth above) are salivating at the chance to go after Marlyn and his connections to Souder etc etc.
I agree 100% with Green Jeans

Marlin Stutzman reminds me of Kelvin Sampson and his hiring at IU. I just hope the Precinct Committeeman learn from what happened with Kelvin while making their decision on Saturday. We do not need to elect someone with “baggage” who will probably disappoint us all once he is in the position.
Mike says:”He needs to focus on fixing his life and his marriage and stop trying to be involved in politics.”
If only people in good marriages got involved in politics, and the rest stayed out, the voter turnout rate would be a lot lower than it is now. Yet on this blog, you’ve frequently lamented low voter turn out. Make up your mind on what you want.
It is interesting that the message was sent to the Noble Prosecutor a Borror supporter.
Robert Enders,
Are you serious?
I do lament low voter turnout and I hope former Congressman Souder votes in November.
That being said Former Congressman Souder should stop playing “kingmaker” and focus on fixing his mistakes.
Mike
Let’s put it this way, he’s not helping. At all.
Go home. Be quiet. Open a new chapter in your life, one without all of us preferably.
I don’t know why people should lament low voter turnout. If you’re not educated on the issues, then you should stay home. I’ve been to some of these candidate events, and some of these people look like they just crawled out from under a rock. (Oops, I’m sorry, was that you Mike? Just kidding!).
On the topic of our former Congressman: Souder, don’t go away mad, just go away.
Kevin and Green Jeans-I don’t know how you can conclude that Stutzman “has baggage” based on a convoluted message from an admitted liar, cheat and someone with an axe to grind against his “sweetie’s” husband and who happens to be a “friend and supporter ” of Stutzman(they may have been friends before the affair or Stutzman’s venture into politics). If either of you have evidence of Stutzman outing Souder or of him failing to report in-kind political donations why don’t you report it to the authorities or here rather than trying to build a “strawman” of baggage about the favorite candidate. I think I understand Kevin’s motives(tell the same rumor enough times and it gains legs with some) but what are Green Jean’s motives? Does he perhaps support another candidate and is willing to punish Stutzman with rumors even though they may hurt him versus the Democratic candidate later? Not much credibility for either of them as far as I am concerned !!
If monogamy and fidelity were prerequisites for involvement in politics, Congress may not be able hold a quorum. Seriously, there is a strong overlap in the skills needed to get a woman to vote for or sleep with you. (”Baby, she and that bill that is still in committee mean nothing to me.”) Watch for Souder to serve quietly and discretely as an advisor in an upcoming campaign.
I am surprised that he would be using Facebook to discuss such sensitive matters.
Mr. Lockwood Marine,
I never mentioned the baggage in my post nor do I mention souder’s flimsly campaign finance allegations but nice try. I have no idea whether Souder’s facebook post is accurate or not, and who cares?
My only comment is with 15 candidates, wouldnt it be nice to pick one of the 14 that did not formerly work for souder, advise for souder, hang around with souder’s girlfriend’s husband? We have had 16 years of Souder, It would be refreshing to see the caucus pick somebody that is not souderesque.
Marine- The “Baggage” is the air travel provided by Brad Jackson in his private plane.
Souder seems convinced it is over the legal donation amount- last I knew- campaign finance violations tend to make it more difficult for a candidate to win.
Do I have evidence? No, the report has not been filed yet. But you can bet every news outlet in the region will be watching for it now.
Enders,
Clinton’s Lewinski dealings never bothered me because he never got on Christian radio and pounded his fist on his chest about being an “evangelical.” The thing that bothers me is the blatant hypocrisy. My middle school age kids post more discreetly on Facebook than “he’s so intelligent” Souder. The old saying about being known by who you hang around with applies to Stutzman in my book. If precinct committee reps. don’t give the 3rd the cleansing enema it needs, I’m pulling the “D” lever in November to prove a point.
Unfortuante that the President cheating on his wife “never bothered” Little Turtle. I’m sure Hillary and Chelsea have a different view…..
Keith,
How can you be sure that Hillary has a different view? If she had said “It’s fine and I’m cool with it,” she probably wouldn’t be SecState right now.
