Olinger for 84th District Caucus

Obviously I don’t have a vote in the upcoming GOP caucus to fill the seat being vacated by State Representative Randy Borror but that won’t prevent me from opining. It looks as if the list of candidates will continue to grow but I’m fairly confident that, regardless of how many people join, my support will go to Jon Olinger.
I worked with Jon during his FWCS campaign, and while we may not agree on everything, I can assure you that he is a solid conservative candidate. And most important to me, and the future of this state, is that he has consistently championed fiscal responsibility. He was the sole voice of sanity on an FWCS board run amok with financial foolishness that is now paying for their previous largess. Of course this was also a major reason he was targeted and defeated during the FWCS race.
I have nothing ill to say towards the other candidates but I do know that if Jon is selected he will be an excellent representative of the 84th district…
Note: I am not affiliated with any campaign Olinger may currently be running

There are things that I like about Olinger, too. But do you really think a cross-party endorsement would be helpful to him?
Because I typically vote for democratic candidates doesn’t make me a spokesman for the party Robert. I think my fiscally responsible credentials speak for themselves regardless of which label you might want to put on me.
It is in that context that I support Olinger.
Besides Robert, If we keep working on Jeff we can eventually get him to reject the dark side of the force and become Republican.
IMHO Jeff is more “right” than about 40% OF THOSE WHO CLAIM TO BE REPUBLICANS!!
Your right John, Jeff just needs to come home:)
I don’t agree that Jon is a fiscal conservative. He voted for the $49 million renovation of North Side High School…but then again he is a North Side alum. I guess that makes it ok.
Not sure why “Not Convinced” has an axe to grind over North Side High School. I am a fiscal conservative and have a long track record to prove it. North Side is one of those records. North Side is a corner stone of the North Side Neighborhood and geographically where FWCS needs to have a school to serve students on Fort Wayne’s near north and northeast side. Thus we had a choice. Build a new school and tear down North Side, a cost of $120 to $150 million, or make responsible renovations to an old facility at a cost of under 50 million. The first architect came in over budget after adding extra’s that they deemed we need. They were fired. The second architect, Schenkel Schultz, came in at 49 million and got the job. The job was completed on time and under budget. Additionally, FWCS acquired all the real estate without the use of Eminent Domain, thus respecting the property rights of the neighbors. And finally, yes I am proudly a North Side alum… not sure what that has to do with the issue or what our courageous “anonymous” poster is trying to infer.
Jon,
Keep eating those ribs and thanks for thinking of Elmhurst when it came time for its renovation.
Spencer, when God sent manna to his people in the wilderness it was in the form of Ziffle’s Ribs.
As for Elmhurst just a few years before Wendy got the “close Elmhurst” bug we put a few Million into Elmhurst. All new boilers, ac, windows (I think) and some other stuff. Elmhurst wasn’t scheduled for a renovation because it was in relatively good shape. (And still is). The whole” Elmhurst is falling” down thing was propaganda from Grile.
Jon was the only FWCS board member who voted against the billion dollar fiasco four years ago. He’s the only board member who actually practiced fiscal responsibility, unlike the others who quote it in their bullshit campaign speeches and FWCS mission statement. For standing up for the taxpayers he was targeted for defeat in the next election by the teachers’ union, administration, fellow board members and their allies.
At least in fixing up North Side he didn’t claim a remodeled building would raise test scores like Wendy and her consultant did four years ago. But Tony Bennett will have a nice building when the state takes it over in another year or so.
Evert,
Actually Wendy said she didn’t know if renovated buildings would help test scores. That is why I was so upset when she tried to wreck Fort Wayne’s economy with higher taxes without knowing if it would help education. I guess that is leadership in this new century. Very sad.
Jon,
I will vote for you in November. I always thought you did a nice job while on the school board. I also believe you will only spend what Indiana can afford and this is why I pray that you, and people like you, will win in November. Good luck.
Thank you spencer, I appreciate your support.
Spencer - Her consultant (Mr. Schmidt) said it at a “public forum” (sales job) at SSHS. I was there and so was Wendy.
Evert,
I believe you. I cannot understand how a person would say such a thing with a serious face. I guess this is another example of why we are in the position that we are in.
The day I first met Mr. Schmidt he looked at the board and said “You should all congratulate yourselves for the outstanding ISTEPS this year!”
